Hexagon on Threaded Rod

Hexagon on Threaded Rod

Our customer tasked us with putting a hexagon face for a spanner on some all thread rods he had.

He wanted the biggest hexagon size we could produce on the 30mm allthread bar - knowing that we could produce a proper hexagon, he said he preferred a part threaded' hexagon rod.

Have a look at the outcome... we can easily turn hexagon or square on round ends like this.

Why would you need a hexagon on a threaded rod?
These kinds of rods are often used inserted into concrete, they're easier to drive if they have a polygon, be it hexagon or square on the end.
