Stay Nuts

STAY NUTS Trojan just manufactured some Stay Nuts in three different sizes using the same batch of material. You may notice that dimensionally these nuts are all the same size except for the internal threaded portion - thats different. We manufactured these for a Boiler Restoration specialist based in England who happens to go through so many of these and we're grateful for his custom. Stay nuts are fastened onto Boiler Stay Bolts. Using one across flat (head size) means that tooling is reduced and they can be assembled onto the boiler pretty quickly. Connector nuts with viewing port

Trojan just manufactured 4 different sizes of these extra long connector nuts. In addition to having a full thread running the length of these fasteners, we were also tasked to drill a through hole on one face - believed to be an inspection port because they didn't ask for this to be tapped. The fasteners you see here have an M30 thread and are 75 millimeters long with double chamfers.

Special Zinced Spacers

Check out these beautifully machined spacers. Well, you might ask, why would someone need a spacer? In this instance, they are going to be used to create a space (get it?) between two fixed metal zinced plates, with an M12 bolt that goes through the plate, the spacer, the next plate and is then fastened by one of our M12 All metal prevailing torque locking nuts. Each plate assembly requires four of these spacers for the four bolts that hold the plate apart the required distance for the other moving parts that attach to said plate. Slotting These Babies

Our customer provided us with some lengths of brass all threaded bar - all we had to do was put a slot on one side so that they become little brass grub screws! We can slot, tap, reduce, resize and turn your free issue items.
M16x1.5 special nuts to drawing

Fasteners such as these present their own manufacturing problems - such a small wall coupled with a short height mean that we had to manufacture some special tooling in order to just thread them. They're precision machined to perfection and do the job as intended... just hope the customer doesn't over torque them!

M33 Special Square nut with Spigot

What an interesting nut! Our customer wanted a fastener with a turned down spigot on one end and un chamfered square portion. In typical Trojan fashion, we machined the fasteners in record time and they're now awaiting collection. These were turned from a 50mm square steel bar.
Brass Threaded Spacers

Our customer provided us with an imported sample nut and asked if we could get close to the product they wanted. The finish on their product was absolutely terrible - and the thread wasn't even centred - to the point where we asked our customer if they wanted an off-centre thread. Thankfully for us, they simply wanted bar turned round threaded spacers - we'd call them round nuts, but everyone has their own name for the wierd and wonderful. Our customer took their first batch only this morning and already they are looking to place an order for more of these!
Pipe Nuts

These look strange don't they? Nuts with such a large inner diameter to hexagon across flat - strange, but necessary for our customers who look for fasteners with a BSP or British Standard Pipe Thread form.
12 slotted Nuts

12 yes TWELVE slots on a nut so small... Yes, we machined them with accuracy, ease and speed. These type of slotted nuts tend to go on parts where a degree of fine rotation is needed in order to line up the slots with the pin to retain it. We made a new tooling rig just for this job - and so far they have been reordered a number of times already. Suffice it to say, our customer is very happy!
Non Preferred Sizes

All fastener standards have specific sizes which are commonly used. However, from time to time, non preferred sizes come into play. When the original fastener sizes were being standardised it became necessary to reduce the number of available diameters that one could use. For example when using an M8 or an M10 nut, whats the point of having an M9 nut? It's only a little bit bigger than an M8 - so why not just use an M10 nut. In this way, M8 and M10 became preferred sizes and the M9 became a non-preferred size.
