Trojan Special Fastener is a specialised manufacturer of internally and externally threaded fasteners. We make these in our factory in Birmingham.
M16x1.5 special nuts to drawing
Friday 1st June 2018
Fasteners such as these present their own manufacturing problems - such a small wall coupled with a short height mean that we had to manufacture some special tooling in order to just thread them. They're precision machined to perfection and do the job as intended... just hope the customer doesn't over torque them!
ISO9001:2015 Newly Compliant
Monday 19th March 2018
Trojan Special Fasteners just signed off on upgrading their existing ISO 9001:2008 certification to the latest ISO9001:2015 quality management system. We have streamlined our quality processes and made them compliant with the new certification. You can rest assured that we will manufacture high quality fasteners in record time. If you need a copy of our new certificate, please contact us.
M33 Special Square nut with Spigot
Thursday 16th November 2017
What an interesting nut! Our customer wanted a fastener with a turned down spigot on one end and un chamfered square portion. In typical Trojan fashion, we machined the fasteners in record time and they're now awaiting collection. These were turned from a 50mm square steel bar.
Brass Threaded Spacers
Monday 30th October 2017
Our customer provided us with an imported sample nut and asked if we could get close to the product they wanted. The finish on their product was absolutely terrible - and the thread wasn't even centred - to the point where we asked our customer if they wanted an off-centre thread. Thankfully for us, they simply wanted bar turned round threaded spacers - we'd call them round nuts, but everyone has their own name for the wierd and wonderful. Our customer took their first batch only this morning and already they are looking to place an order for more of these!
Pipe Nuts
Monday 30th October 2017
These look strange don't they? Nuts with such a large inner diameter to hexagon across flat - strange, but necessary for our customers who look for fasteners with a BSP or British Standard Pipe Thread form.
12 slotted Nuts
Monday 30th October 2017
12 yes TWELVE slots on a nut so small... Yes, we machined them with accuracy, ease and speed. These type of slotted nuts tend to go on parts where a degree of fine rotation is needed in order to line up the slots with the pin to retain it. We made a new tooling rig just for this job - and so far they have been reordered a number of times already. Suffice it to say, our customer is very happy!
Non Preferred Sizes
Wednesday 25th October 2017
All fastener standards have specific sizes which are commonly used. However, from time to time, non preferred sizes come into play. When the original fastener sizes were being standardised it became necessary to reduce the number of available diameters that one could use. For example when using an M8 or an M10 nut, whats the point of having an M9 nut? It's only a little bit bigger than an M8 - so why not just use an M10 nut. In this way, M8 and M10 became preferred sizes and the M9 became a non-preferred size. This has the consequence that you need to keep a smaller number of spanners in your toolkit, and as anyone will tell you, having fewer…
Slotted Nuts
Thursday 21st September 2017
Slotted nuts are often called castellated nuts. They have slots cut into one side. Typically there are a total of 6 opposing slots, but this number can vary - in very large nuts 8 are common, as well as 2 in smaller nuts. The name comes from the nut's resemblance to the parapet of a typical medieval castle. The slots are designed to align with holes in a mated bolt to accept a cotter pin, a split pin, R-clip or even safety wire to be inserted, which then locks the nut in place and prevents it from loosening and turning. Don't confuse castle nuts with slotted nuts. Castle nuts have a round reduced section formed on the section where the…
5/16 UNF hex set screws 3.1/2 inches long
Thursday 21st September 2017
Whilst making bolts, setscrews and other externally threaded rods is not our speciality, we still managed to precision machine these 3.5 inch long (under the head) hexagon set screws in bright mild steel. Our customer said they needed them quickly and to their drawing with a very short plain section, so in record time, we turned these out. A set screw is a type of screw used to secure an object within or against another object, normally not using a nut. The most common examples are securing a gear or pulley to a shaft.
1.1/4 UNC to M20 Connecting Adapter
Wednesday 13th September 2017
In a cost saving exercise for our customer, we manufactured 4 pieces of the unified to metric threaded hexagon connector nuts. Our customer wished to use a brush head on a device that came in unified form and he could only get the attaching rodwork in metric. We said no problem matey! We figured out the amount of thread engagement he needed and machined a prototype which he tried out - it worked as expected and so we machined a few more! Mixing threads on one kind of nut is not an issue for us. Typically we manufacture a large quantity of right handed to left handed adapters for some of our customers. Be they unified, whitworth or metric thread, let…
M16 SPECIAL FLANGE NUTS IN BRASS
Tuesday 12th September 2017
We recently manufactured a small batch of just 10 flange nuts out of naval brass for one of our customers. Smaller quantities are not an issue and as you can see, the quality is exceptional.
M6 Special Flat Cap/Blind nuts
Monday 17th July 2017
It took us just 2 hours to make a small batch of these cap nuts to our customers sample. He didn't know what thread was being used and he found the cap the sample he had wouldn't go all the way. But we were able to modify the internal thread profile slightly to allow a deeper thread engagement without altering the overall size of the nuts. Another customer happy with our goods that they'll be ordering a much larger quantity from us!
